fetal conditions, and applicable legal considerations. This study reexamines abortion from the perspective of Christian ethics, taking Imago Dei as the basis for respecting human life while also considering medical emergencies and the church’s pastoral responsibility. It employs a qualitative literature review with theological-ethical and normative legal approaches. The sources include biblical texts, literature on Christian ethics and bioethics, previous studies, and Indonesian laws and regulations concerning health and abortion. The study finds that respect for life concerns not only the fetus but also the dignity of the pregnant woman. Abortion must therefore be assessed in light of the circumstances involved, while upholding the Christian principle of the sanctity of life. This study proposes four dimensions of ethical consideration: ontological, normative, contextual, and pastoral. This framework positions the church not only as a voice of moral prohibition but also as a community that offers accompaniment, protection, support, and healing. Through this approach, Christian ethics can uphold respect for life while providing a concrete pastoral response to abortion in Indonesian society.
